Major Singh Jawanda
Growing up in the Punjab in India, Major remembers having a huge garden with a large tandoor oven that his family would share with other villagers. This is where Major first learned how to cook at the age of 14. In 1968, Major moved to the Midlands to work in a foundry. In 1981, he learned how to make Punjabi sweets and opened the Lakshmi Sweet Centre in Wolverhampton. One of their specialities is authentic tandoori chicken cooked in the restaurant’s tandoor oven.
