THE BIG RELEASE
Intolerable Cruelty
Advance word: The Coen brothers go mainstream! Well, as near as they're going to get to it in this black romantic comedy starring George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones. He's a divorce lawyer, she's a serial gold-digger. He falls for her and before you can say pre-nup - they're married. Laughs ensue, hopefully. It's this year's The War of the Roses, but split the critics at the Venice Film Festival.

ALSO OUT
Michael Caine and Robert Duvall play eccentric uncles offering life lessons to Haley Joel Osment in the family comedy-drama Secondhand Lions (let's just hope Ossie doesn't point at the OAPs and say "I see dead people"). More family fun is on offer with Holes. Never heard of it? It's based on the popular (in the US) kids' novel by Louis Sachar, and stars Sigourney Weaver, Jon Voight and the up-and-coming Shia LaBeouf. Fans of Mark Ruffalo (from the wonderful You Can Count On Me) may want to check out another indie drama, XX/XY, while quirky French musos Daft Punk branch out with the animated Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem (see, we told you they were quirky).
