The story was intended to be as silly as possible 
He was only 29 when a certain kid with a knack for seeing ghosts catapulted him into the top league of Hollywood directors. But since The Sixth Sense, M Night Shyamalan has had a tougher time of it. First there was Unbreakable (2000) which seemed all too mysterious for Hollywood, next the aliens landed in the all too derided Signs (2002) and then his period piece The Village (2004) flopped at the box office. Undeterred however, the helmer is back with another slice of the supernatural in the suburbs of his hometown of Philadelphia with Lady In The Water, in which Bryce Dallas Howard stars a watery creature trapped in the pool of Paul Giamatti's apartment block.
