As the number one production house in Bollywood, Yash Raj Films has built its reputation on producing wholesome family-oriented entertainers. But, like other Indian filmmakers, they've recently recognised their audiences' increasingly western tastes. The result has been a batch of contemporary flicks tackling the subject of pre-marital sex, the latest of which is Neal 'N' Nikki, an amusingly saucy rom-com starring Uday Chopra and Tanisha Mukerji as a pair of twenty-somethings who want to live it up before settling down.

As young Indians born and bred in Canada, Neal (Chopra) and Nikki's (Mukerji) attitudes to love and marriage have more in common with Madonna than Mahatma Gandhi. But there's no accounting for bad taste which is why Neal gives into his parents' wishes of marrying an innocent Indian girl from back home, with just one pre-condition. He wants to live it up one last time on a 21-day bachelor vacation in Vancouver. Well how else is the country boy going to bump into spunky city waitress Nikki, whose madcap ways derail his mating mission?

"REPETITIVE BIKINI AND BOXER SHOTS"

Neal 'N' Nikki may follow the same path as most love stories (boy meets girl, boy can't stand girl, boy falls for girl after a few misunderstandings along the way), but it does so in a refreshingly daring manner. At times verging on the vulgar, writer/director Arjun Sablok makes full use of Mukerji's cleavage and Chopra's six-pack in comic scenes. But the couple's screen chemistry gradually overshadow the repetitive bikini and boxers shots, bringing to life a pair of thoroughly likeable characters who drag Bollywood's prudish attitudes kicking and screaming into the 21st century.
