Frankie Muniz

Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London

Interviewed by Neil Smith

β€œI hate it when they have stunt doubles on the set, other than when I have to jump off a building or something crazy like that ”

Last seen in bed with Cher in Stuck On You, Malcolm In The Middle star Frankie Muniz is on safer ground with Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London, the sequel to last year's 'Junior James Bond' action romp. ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔi FILMS caught up with the 18-year-old during the shooting of the film near Pinewood Studios...

What's it like being back as Agent Cody Banks?

It's pretty awesome. If there's one character I had to be a lot, it would definitely be Agent Cody Banks. It's everybody's dream to be a secret agent, to get the girl, to have the cool gadgets, and drive the cool cars.

What can we expect from Agent Cody Banks 2?

Cody goes to London! Diaz, my tutor who's training me in the CIA, steals these mind control devices from the lab and I have to get them back. I don't really know what happens next because it's being written right now!

How has the character changed since the first movie?

In the first one my handler [Angie Harmon] wanted to get the mission done with no playing around. In this movie I'm like her - very straight, got to get the mission done, that's it. So now we have Anthony Anderson as my handler, and he's like a big kid. He's like, "There's Big Ben - let's stop, let's go here, let's get a hot dog!" I'm like, "We have to get the mission underway!" But at the end of the movie I realise I am a kid - I need to be a kid and go to school and be with my friends. I don't have to be saving the world all the time!

Do you enjoy doing your own stunts?

Yeah, I hate it when they have stunt doubles on the set, other than when I have to jump off a building or something crazy like that... I trained for two months before this movie, and I can do pretty much all the fights and everything like that. You can always tell if it's not real, and it makes it more believable if I do it. It's also part of the fun of being an actor - I would never get to do some of this stuff in real life, so why not do it here?

So will we see you in Agent Cody Banks 3?

I'm not sure. They've talked about it, but first they have to see how this one does. I don't know - two's good. Two's more than one.
