I Capture The Castle DVD (2003)

The key reason to get this DVD of what we found to be "an enjoyable if sudsy growing pains yarn adapted from the popular novel by Dodie Smith" is for the movie rather than anything extra.

Solid Castle

Fans of the film will appreciate the strong 5.1 sound mix and a good image transfer. Venture into the few extra features though and you're liable for disappointment.

Dry Moat, Dry Commentary

The audio commentary with director Tim Fywell, screenwriter Heidi Thomas and producer David Parfitt is as dry as the dry moat they debate at one point. Casting decisions and some talk of adapting the book make it in here but most of the time the chat is of little interest. At one point a deleted scene is discussed but it's not included on the DVD for us to see. Instead we get a sweet interview with Romola Garai.
