Μύ Tom Hanks and Shelley Long buy the house from comedic hell in this stunning example of 80s OTT filmmaking. Highly silly, but also studded with some big laughs, it's an important day in DVD history when we get to see class like this on disc. (I smell sarcasm - Ed.)
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture Both the VHS and Betamax releases of this film looked far grungier than they should have. This DVD transfer is much sharper and stronger in colour. Stock shots remain grainy but the actual film is a huge improvement.
Sound The 2.0 stereo mix lacks bass power, but then the 80s synth soundtrack was already overloaded without more being added.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Making Of Even back in the 80s they made featurettes where plot and character get discussed in too much detail. What you do get a chance to see here, though, is a young Tom Hanks being interviewed and boy, is he green compared to now. Plus, we also witness the man suffering for his art in the hilarious collapsing scaffold scene by getting plastered with, well, plaster.
