Film review of "Phone Booth"

Interview with Joel Schumacher

Colin Farrell steps into a phone booth of trouble, which comes calling on a fairly low-key DVD release.

TECHNICAL FEATURES

Picture Director Joel Schumacher reaches for the blue filters, which give the film a cold look that transfers to DVD with a steely veneer.

Sound The 5.1 sound mix creates a busy street soundscape of tension.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Audio Commentary The tight running time and quick pace of the movie can easily be explained by the shooting schedule, which Joel Schumacher reveals here was only ten days. A street in LA was dressed to look like New York and each day Colin would deliver 12 to 14 pages of dialogue. This was no mean feat given that shooting started at 6.45am and every evening Colin would be out enjoying the night life until late. Now there's a surprise.

Making of This 28-minute look behind the scenes of the movie is overlong considering how little substance there is to cover. Cast and crew offer their thoughts on plot and character points, but the one real reason to have a look at this featurette is to admire the impressive set dressing of Andrew Laws.

Additional Extra Features Also on this DVD is a selection of trailers for other 20th Century Fox titles.
