The Good Girl DVD (2003)

Jennifer Aniston checks into low-key comedy drama with an interesting career departure, which she talks about in some detail on this DVD release.

TECHNICAL FEATURES

Picture Shot in low light, the picture is textured with slight grain that looks great on disc, with subtle bland colours reflecting Aniston's character's malaise.

Sound As a dialogue-led movie there's not much for the 5.1 sound mix to do, but it's certainly there with subtle effects that draw you into the claustrophobic world that the characters inhabit.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Audio Commentary One Director Miguel Arteta and writer/actor Mike White don't have a lot to say for themselves. Their film might be low-key, but the key they ramble in is not far off a mumble.

It's a classic example of how not to do a commentary, with poor preparation resulting in little to say. There's still the odd point of interest, but you'll have tuned out long before you come across one of those. Suffice to say that White's comment - "Some of the best jokes in the script aren't in the movie" - is the most arresting moment you'll encounter.

Audio Commentary Two Jennifer Aniston's scene-specific commentary track is instantly better as she doesn't sound like she's about to pass out. Indeed, she offers a far better and sometimes witty insight into what it was like to shoot the movie.

Additional Extra Features Also on the DVD is a short alternate ending montage, deleted scenes (with more terrible commentary), a gag reel, and preview trailers.
