Μύ Sweet family fun, "The Princess Diaries" is released on a DVD that has something for both young and old.

Sound The 5.1 track could do with a little more bass support for the music, but it's still punchy bright stuff, although lacking in much rear detail.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Audio Commentary One As director Garry Marshall explains, the movie location was changed from New York to San Francisco, "because his grandkids live there". The way he seems to approach this commentary is to pitch it as if he were talking to them. He's clearly taken on board the target audience for this film, and jokes around, while explaining basic filmmaking details that a youngster could understand.
Audio Commentary Two Julie Andrews (we know it's her because she introduces herself as "I'm Jooolie Andrews") and Anne Hathaway get together for an English tea, and chat about the movie. While they both find time to exalt over their supercalifragilisticexpialidocious tea, they also gossip about the fun they had on set, and embarrassing scenes that usually seem to involve the somewhat accident-prone Hathaway. It's light fluffy stuff but rather fun, and if you listen to it all, you'll gain a thorough elocution lesson from Andrews.
A New Princess This 24-minute featurette may initially look like your average awful promotional video, but it's not. Even when producer Whitney Houston gushes about Julie Andrews - "She's our Cinderella. I know she belongs to England, but she's ours" - you shouldn't worry. Garry Marshall turns out to be something of a card and isn't short of amusing one-liners. In between Garry's gags is plenty of behind-the-scene footage, and amusing comments from the cast and crew.
