Don't Bother to Knock DVD (1953)

Marilyn Monroe as a demented babysitter? Yes indeed, and although she's not suited for the role, this is an interesting, if flawed addition to the 11-disc "Marilyn Monroe Diamond Collection" DVD set.

TECHNICAL FEATURES

Picture Perhaps the only problem with restored black and white picture transfers like this is that Fox are going to have to pay equal attention to their other black and white releases. The remastering has added depth and contrast to produce a rich, shadow-strewn image that fits this thriller perfectly.

Sound For once in a Monroe film, there are no song routines, so the 2.0 mono track is quite enough to handle the dialogue.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Extra Features Also included on this DVD is a stills gallery, a trailer, and a restoration comparison that shows the impressive difference between the old video master and the new digital transfer. The original negative was in good condition but one reel was missing and the replacement looked different so had to be matched to the rest of the film, which was also corrected for inferior splicing to create smoother scene changes.
