You're a big comic book fan. Would you have liked to have played Spider-Man?
I would have loved to have played Spider-Man. I actually met with Sam [Raimi] but he had a very clear vision of who he wanted and the best actor for the job got the job. But I would have loved to have done it. Tobey did a fantastic job and I would have done it very differently.
You injured yourself during the shoot, didn't you?
I ate it pretty bad during a stunt, flipped over backwards and bent myself 90 degrees the wrong way, so that was a little tricky. But I was OK because I can't be hurt, I'm a superhero and I don't feel pain... ever [laughs]. So it wasn't something that was that difficult for me to deal with, though it looks difficult on the screen.
Did you worry about Sarah doing her own stunts?
Sarah's very talented and when I worry about her it's never set-related. She's been doing what she's been doing for a long, long time and knows how to take care of herself. Plus, she has good stunt people who work with her and I met all the Chinese wire team and they rocked.
What was the most exciting element of the shoot?
We felt the gravity of what it was we were involved in. No matter how hard your day was you were part of something that, at least in the States, is probably the biggest cartoon in the world as far as its popularity.
And what was it like being a blond?
It was a little tricky. It wasn't very manly, having to get my roots done every week. But other than that it was all right. At the end of the movie my hair was so dead that it literally felt like straw, so I had to shave my head so that something would grow back with some sort of life to it. So I looked like a patient in a hospital for over two weeks.
