The Wayans Brothers plumb new comedic depths to squeeze a reaction from you in "Scary Movie 2". On the DVD, you can find out just how they do it.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture Some scenes look a little soft, but otherwise this transfer is solid in detail, even during the darker moments that you tend to find in movies set in creepy old houses.
Sound The 5.1 mix is eager to help enhance yucky effects, and lend solid bass support to the pop tunes that make up the soundtrack.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Behind-the-Scenes At seven minutes, this featurette doesn't outlive its welcome. The fact it exists at all is down to Miramax asking the Wayans for a sequel at the premiere of the first movie. Any resistance they initially had soon melted in the sight of the large cheque held in front of them. Tim Curry pops up for a few comments, and James Woods discusses how the jokes written for him were thrown away after he came up with his own suggestions.
Alternate and Deleted Scenes There are 17 deleted and alternate scenes, which might well be a record. Some of them are quite funny, and there are no less than three different endings to the film.
Special Effects Tour with Lou Carlucci At only five minutes, this featurette could do with being a bit longer, for Lou is an affable chap with a penchant for the gross. So while he mentions vomit rigs, boob gags, penis gags, and spliff rigs, we don't get to find out much about them. We do learn that Lou is quite happy to analyse bird poo in order to get the consistency right, and in case you fancy making your own, we've got the recipe:
- Spinach baby food
- Creamy buttermilk dressing
- Granulated coffee
- Parsley Flakes
...uh, mix. Enjoy.
Here Kitty, Kitty A quick overview on making animatronic cats.
Scary Effects Another short featurette which deals with the new types of broken glass now used (sugar glass is sooooo 30s!).
Behind the make-up with Barry Koper A featurette that does as the title says, although you do find out that the original tongue in "The Exorcist" was re-used for "Scary Movie 2". Wow.
