Beverly Hills Cop III DVD (1994)

Woe is the sequel that is "Beverly Hills Cop III". Even with director John Landis at its helm, the laughs just aren't there. Still, if you're a collector, it's annoying not to own all the films in a series, and at least Paramount have put it on a quality DVD release.

TECHNICAL FEATURES

Picture Every penny of the budget squandered on overblown action set pieces is clearly visible on the screen, thanks to the clean transfer to disc.

Sound Nile Rodgers' bloated interpretation of the Axel Foley theme lacks the clean edge of Harold Faltermeyer's creation. The 5.1 mix doesn't help with a delivery that is flat and lifeless compared to the first two "Beverly Hills Cop" discs.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Cast and Crew Interviews For some reason Eddie Murphy features heavily in this 24-minute documentary, while barely appearing on the previous two discs. Eddie Murphy is pretty upfront on the progress of the film and how the team were kept "constantly fixing" problems that arose. The scariest of those was the fact that they'd agreed that the film should be set around a theme park, but no one knew why until shortly before shooting began!

Trailer This is one of those trailers that makes a lame film look like it's essential viewing. You might even be tempted to watch the movie because of it...
