Enter The Dragon DVD (1973)

Bruce Lee fans in the UK are used to waiting. Therefore, it's surely no surprise to any of us that it's only taken three years for the full uncut and extras-laden Region 1 release of "Enter The Dragon" to reach the UK on Region 2. It's an excellent disc too, although won't most Lee fans already own the Region 1 version?

Picture quality is at times very pleasing. There are some grainy moments but these tend to vary with the shooting of different scenes. Once you've seen this DVD though, you'll never want to watch your old VHS (or Betamax) copy ever again!

It's a safe bet that overlaying the dialogue and effects onto an upgraded 5.1 music track has created the 5.1 sound mix for this disc. While the Lalo Schifrin score pleasures the speakers around you with its multi-layered orchestrations, this, sadly, leaves the effects on a slight delay. It's not a huge problem, but Warner Bros should know better.

If you think that we tend to praise Bey Logan's audio commentaries for the Hong Kong Legend's DVDs a little too much, well just try staying awake to the effort by writer Michael Allin and producer Paul Heller. You won't learn a lot, and both shudder to a halt long before the film is finished.

You will learn a lot more from the interview compilation 'Bruce in His Own Words', produced by "Bruce Lee: A Warrior's Journey" writer/director Mark Little. These 18 minutes should win anyone over to the devilishly charming Lee.

Also included on the disc is interview footage with Linda Lee, some Bruce Lee home video, and a fine assortment of trailers and TV spots. Aside from a few minor issues, there's a lot to recommend this DVD.
