Police Story DVD (1985)

Often cited by Jackie Chan as one of his favourite films, "Police Story" marked Chan's move into the big stunt-filled action movies that he's so well known for now. Still impressive today, the film is considerably improved with an excellent DVD release.

The impact of all the stunts was greatly reduced on the old pan and scan VHS releases of the film. Now in the original 2.35:1 ratio, the scope of the movie is there to enjoy with a fresh picture that takes years off this 1985 production.

A 5.1 sound mix further enhances the action by adding bass to the music score and wrapping it around the available speakers.

There's an audio commentary with Bey Logan, who has plenty of anecdotes to share having obviously discussed the movie in some detail with Jackie himself. Bey also has some very interesting points to make about why the film is called "Police Story", and how this was Jackie's response to the failure of his US movie, "The Protector".

Jackie reveals more about the film courtesy of a new interview where he discusses his aims with the project, how he loves to show off to his fans, and how US action movies are wrongly edited. Also on the disc are additional out-takes, trailers, a photo gallery, and an in-depth biography on Jackie.
