Black Beauty DVD (1971)

A classic novel, adapted into a somewhat less charming film, "Black Beauty" makes it onto DVD with surprising results.

What's striking about this old Tigon movie from 1971 is how good it looks on disc. The picture quality is often very clear, and with only minor print flaws you'd be forgiven for thinking that this was a newer film than it is.

A strong 2.0 mono soundtrack handles the occasionally strident music score without too much distortion, and proves perfectly adequate.

Extra features include the original trailer and an animated image gallery with behind-the-scenes stills, and poster designs, including one for the Japanese release.
