What attracted you to "Swordfish"?
John Travolta, of course. Halle Berry, and Don Cheadle too. It's a great cast. The director, Dom Senna, I'd been very fond of his movie "Kalifornia". I thought he had a great eye. And then the script. There's some scenes in there that are unbelievable. In the first three or four pages, there's a monologue that John delivers that is one of the best I've ever seen written for the screen.
Do you wish to carry on with action films?
Sure, yeah. I've got another "X-Men" to do at the end of the year. My son needs another action figure. He's pretty bored with Wolverine!
How do you recall the time when the original "X-Men" stormed the box-office in the US?
I remember walking to my trailer, for the film "Animal Attraction", which I started the week after "X-Men" opened, and as I did there was paparazzi running behind me taking photos. Things changed in that way. My agent now gets more incoming calls too!
Has "X-Men" helped you lose your anonymity?
No, not yet. It's starting now. I went into a restaurant in New York's Tribecca, and the manager Vinny got one of his staff to ask me who I was. I look around and Vinny - not a man to be star struck - ducks behind the counter. He came over and pulled up his shirt, and he had a tattoo of Wolverine on his back, and a bracelet with three claws on it. He was shaking and sweating. He couldn't speak. But even he didn't recognise me at first.
