Tommy Lee Jones wisecracks his way after the Black Moon supercar in this intriguing action film that was to prove highly influential for the later "Die Hard". Only previously available on nasty old pan and scan VHS, here's a chance to see the movie supercharged on DVD.
Presented in the original 1.85:1 ratio, it's amazing to see the difference it makes. The transfer is anamorphic but some scenes have a fine grain, which is a little surprising. It's not bad enough to be distracting and the levels of detail are good, allowing you to enjoy the fast cuts and pace that belies this movie's 80s origins.
A new 5.1 sound mix boosts this thriller right into your sub woofer. It gets plenty of bass effects to show off, as the Black Moon car tears across your living room, courtesy of your surround speakers.
Disappointingly, Anchor Bay has only included two trailers as extra features. There's a wealth of interesting talent associated with this film and a commentary would have proved a lot of fun as our exclusive interview with director Harley Cokeliss proves.
NB: (i) Cokeliss is credited as 'Cokliss', the name he used in the early part of his career. (ii): The DVD release date above refers to the Region 1 release.
Chapters: 29

Ratio: 1.85:1 (Anamorphic)

Extra Features: Scene selection, teaser trailer, theatrical trailer, animated main menu, English for the hearing impaired.
