An icon of music, Johnny Marr will be playing the Radio 1 / NME stage at this year’s festival.
Former guitarist with The Smiths, a band often called the best rock group of all time, he is behind hits such as There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, Bigmouth Strikes Again and The Queen Is Dead. Arguably responsible for the revival of British guitar bands such as The Stone Roses, Oasis and Arctic Monkeys, he's gone on to perform with The The, Modest Mouse, The Cribs & The Healers plus has recently released debut solo album The Messenger.
Marr has gained the Godlike Genius accolade from the NME as well as an honorary doctorate from Salford University for services to music.
