Concert Information

Rossini's Semiramide Overture sets the scene of his 1823 opera which tells the story of Queen Semiramis, who, taking the throne of Assyria and Babylonia (800 B.C.) by killing her husband, falls in love with a young man she doesn’t know is her son, and then is killed by her lover.

Violinist and former Â鶹ԼÅÄ Young Musician of the Year Jennifer Pike performs Bruch's beautiful Violin Concerto No.1 and the second half of the concert is enriched with Tchaikovsky's romantic Fifth Symphony.
