About This Event
Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) soloists on the International Artist Diploma course perform under the batons of RNCM student conductors with the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Philharmonic Orchestra. This afternoon will no doubt be a defining experience at the start of their already illustrious careers.
Matteo dal Maso brings us the overture to Giuseppe Verdi’s comic opera Un Giorno di Regno or King for a Day, as well as Giacomo Puccini’s sun kissed Capriccio Sinfonico. Before embarking on his studies in Manchester, Matteo graduated from the Guiseppe Verdi Conservatory of Turin and he’s a prize-winner in more than ten international music competitions. Matteo is joined by British-Ukrainian violinist, Roman Lytwyniw for Reinhold Gliere’s Violin Concerto. Roman studied at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester and completed his Bachelor’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music.
Josephine Korda is joined by violist Wenhan Jiang for Sally Beamish’s The Seafarer: Viola Concerto No.2. Jiang is currently section leader viola of the Ulster Orchestra, and he also appears as a Guest Principal of Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Welsh National Opera and Sinfonia Viva. Josephine has a music degree from the University of Oxford where she was a choral and instrumental scholar. She was the Trainee Female Conductor at Opera North 2022-23, Associate Conductor at Green Opera 2023-24, and Assistant Conductor at the Opera de Massy 2020-21.
