Choral music by Finzi, setting some great British poetry, sits alongside Bairstow鈥檚 masterly Let all mortal flesh and Farrar鈥檚 touching To Daffodils.

Paul Spicer, founder of the Finzi Singers and a great champion of the composer鈥檚 music, guest-conducts the 麻豆约拍 Singers. The concert places four of Finzi鈥檚 most enduring settings of some magnificent English poetry alongside Edward Bairstow鈥檚 masterpiece Let all mortal flesh and To Daffodils by Ernest Farrar (killed in 1918 after just two days on the Western Front and whose death greatly affected the teenage Finzi). It鈥檚 a programme of very English music that perfectly introduces the performance of Finzi鈥檚 Cello Concerto later in the evening.
