A concert staging of Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius
The Â鶹ԼÅÄ Singers join the ENO Chorus and Orchestra in a concert staging of Elgar's greatest choral work The Dream of Gerontius as part of the Chorus Weekend at Southbank Centre.
Conducted by Simone Young, the ENO Chorus and Orchestra and the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Singers is joined by principal singers Gwyn Hughes Jones, Patricia Bardon and Matthew Rose, to bring Elgar's musical masterpiece to life. Using innovative designs by Lucy Carter, the emotional journey of Gerontius is told through music and light.
The John Henry Newman poem exploring Gerontius' heartfelt loss and hope in the face of death and his judgement before God is set to Elgar's sublimely dramatic music, creating a deeply moving, passionate and ultimately inspiring experience.
Concept, designs and staging by Lucy Carter.
