It’s always a shame when a group splits up due to musical differences, but it sure does make the comeback even sweeter. Jurassic 5 are back for more and are bringing the party with them.
In 1997, J5’s debut LP, Jurassic 5, refreshed the Wild Style sound of ‘80s hip hop for a new audience. The beats made you happy and the lyrics were full of feel-good wordplay and banter between the four MCs (Aki, Zaakir, Marc and Chali 2Na) and DJs Nu-Mark and Cut Chemist. The four albums since kept the vibe going until their break-up in 2007.
Last year, the group reformed and delighted UK fans with a string of live shows. They’ve gone one better in 2014 with a new track, The Way We Do It, and a run of festival sets, including this one on West Holts.
