New Generation Artists 2015!
The Â鶹ԼÅÄ Symphony Orchestra is joined by two members of the Radio 3 New Generation Artists scheme for its first concert in 2015!
Horn player Alec Frank-Gemmill plays Glière’s Horn Concerto, and cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan perform’s Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto No. 1 under the baton of conductor Ruman Gamba.
Opening and closing the concert are pieces by two Swedish composers. Martinsson’s Open Mind is a modern concert overture which asks the listener to have an openness to the composers’ free choice of expression. Alfvén’s Swedish Rhapsody No.1 is one of the best known pieces in Sweden, and is a fantasy on popular Swedish folk melodies.
Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that as not everyone who asks for tickets uses them, to make sure we have a full house we send out more tickets than there are places. We do our best to get the numbers right, but unfortunately we occasionally have to disappoint people so please arrive early.
