One of Walesβs most loved music and family events - ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Walesβs Proms in the Park β returns this September to Swansea, Singleton Park.
This year, ABC are bringing a taste of 80s perfect pop by performing some of their greatest hits including βThe Look of Loveβ and βPoison Arrowβ.
A new addition to line-up this year is West End star Sophie Evans. Hailing from Tonypandy, the Welsh singer and actress was picked from over 10,000 hopefuls to appear on ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ series Over the Rainbow and after being named runner-up, she was subsequently cast by Andrew Lloyd Webber as Dorothy in βWizard of Ozβ. More recently, she has been fulfilling her dream role as Glinda in βWickedβ.
Already on the bill are baritone and winner of this yearβs ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Cardiff Singer of the World competition Andrei Kymach and 22 year old saxophonist Xhosa Cole, winner of ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Young Jazz Musician in 2018 - who will all perform with the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales, conducted by Robert Ames.
Leading everyone through the evening will be The One Showβs Alex Jones and ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 1βs Steffan Powell.
The show will transport the audience into outer space, with music to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landings including Also βSprach Zarathustraβ by R. Strauss - made famous in 2001: A Space Odyssey, John Williamsβ theme from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and βLake in the Moonlightβ by Tchaikovsky.
Proms in the Park is part of the annual spectacular culmination of two months of music-making at the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Proms, as the world-famous Last Night celebrations spill out from London's Royal Albert Hall and thousands of people come together at venues across the UK to be part of the magic of the Last Night.
