About this concert

Come and celebrate anniversaries galore as students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland join members of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ SSO for a concert that’s the climax of a week of musical explorations. Thirty years ago Dame Evelyn Glennie premiered Sir James MacMillan’s Percussion Concerto, 'Veni, Veni, Emmanuel'. Here, she returns to that work, praised for its ‘instant accessibility’ and ‘exuberant physicality’ (The Telegraph) for a special anniversary performance. Also marking a thirtieth year - this time his association with the Â鶹ԼÅÄ SSO - Martyn Brabbins (RCS Visiting Professor of Conducting) opens with the World Premiere of Errollyn Wallen’s 'The World’s Weather', before students from the RCS join the Â鶹ԼÅÄ SSO for Elgar’s majestic First Symphony.
