William L Dawson explores his African heritage in a symphony of sweeping romantic power. Samuel Barber looks to Europe, and writes a violin concerto filled with singing melodies. This is music with a big personality; but with violinist Elena Urioste, and Principal Guest Conductor Dalia Stasevska at the helm, there’ll be charisma to spare.
