Hold Steady

Sharing qualities of The Black Keys, Jack White and Janis Joplin in their recognisable south-eastern Americana, Alabama Shakes specialise in life-affirming rootsy rock and roll, heavy on guitar and soothing, sassy vocals courtesy of lead singer Brittany Howard. Despite releasing their first album only two years ago, the band has a heritage sound that it seems impossible to have lived without.

Debut album Boys and Girls received one of three Grammy nominations and was certified gold is the US. Containing toe-tapping hits such as I Found You and Hold On, the quartet have garnered an evangelical reputation for their live shows, with stars such as Robert Plant, Alex Turner and Russell Crowe seen in attendance. Soul rock to shake you out of your troubles, these new kids on the scene seize the Glasto spirit on the Other Stage.
