The Congos
Sun 30 Jun 2013 West Holts Stage
Reggae vibes in sunshine skies

A reggae vocal trio of Ashanti Roy, Cedric “Congo” Myton and Watty Burnett, The Congos gained acclaim for their 1977 album Heart Of The Congos, produced by Lee 'Scratch' Perry.

A turbulent period followed for these pioneers of roots reggae until their reformation in the mid 1990's, which saw them work with Sly and Robbie, and then 2012 saw a collaboration with US musicians Sun Araw and M. Geddes Gengras bring a psychedelic twist to their sun-soaked vibes in the album Icon Give Thank.

Creating laid-back dub grooves that stretch from 70's Jamaica to 00's LA, The Congos continue to innovate and exhilarate on the Glastonbury stage
