Steve Mason's return goes from strength to strength. Four years after the first shoots of life emerged from the most recent project of the former Beta Band frontman, he's picking up the positive reviews left and right, and building on them with countless bookings for the festive summer.
The Scotsman has been back with us before, testing his talents under a variety of styles as King Biscuit Time and Black Affair, however it his self-titled work that has really caught the eye.
Debut album Boys Outside, and its dub remixed counterpart Ghosts Outside found friends in many critical circles, but it was 2013's politically focused Monkey Minds in the Devil’s Time that best distils all we love about Steve Mason. A clever lyricist, who employs electroics to bring the best out of his instrumentation, the Mason name no longer needs to be attached to Beta Band to open the right doors to the right places.
He has played the Park Stage before, appearing with fledgling Boys Outside tracks in 2010. We're delighted to see him back for what should be an unforgettable set.
