About This Event
Â鶹ԼÅÄ NOW’s leader Lesley Hatfield directs this programme of delightful works that include one of Mozart’s most celebrated concertos and Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece for string orchestra. Mozart, himself a fine player of both the violin and viola, allows his unusual combination of soloists to shine while giving the orchestra more to say, resulting in a rich dialogue. Prokofiev’s study for aspiring violin soloists can be played by either solo or unison strings, and it represents him at his most charming. In Tchaikovsky’s homage to Mozart and the 18th century he explores what a string section can really do, in four very contrasting movements of melodic richness.
