Arlene Sierra/Bartók/Dvořák
19:30

The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester
The music of American-born, London-based composer Arlene Sierra brilliantly evokes the natural world, and this Â鶹ԼÅÄ Philharmonic commission will lift us out of town and into spaces far beyond. You’ll also hear sounds of the countryside in Dvorák’s joyous Eighth Symphony, but the urgency of Bartók’s First Piano Concerto is firmly rooted in the city. Two longtime favourites from France cross the Channel to join us: conductor Ludovic Morlot and piano dynamo Jean-Efflam Bavouzet.
