Concert Information

Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory curates a programme that responds and reacts to Kirchin’s fascination with texture and sonic collage.

In a series of pieces specially devised for the occasion, St. Etienne’s Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs create Abstractions of Holderness, an audio-visual work inspired by Kirchin’s 1970s residency in East Yorkshire. Sonic Youth’s Jim O’Rourke responds to his favourite Kirchin piece Integration and Will Gregory explores the potential of the human voice.

Pianist and composer Matthew Bourne opens the concert with a highly individual take on Kirchin’s world, while producer, composer and performer Matthew Herbert will contribute a brand new piece that combines sounds from everyday items to create extraordinary music.

This concert will be recorded for future broadcast on Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 3’s Hear and Now.
