About this event
Proms Plus Family workshops are the perfect introduction to the music you’ll be hearing at the Proms. Fun and interactive, the workshops engage with children of all ages and abilities so that they really get the most out of the music.
Join musicians Natasha Zielazinski and Detta Danford for a free family-friendly introduction to Prom 33, where the awesome National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, full of young talent, will perform pieces by some of music’s greatest rebels. Pianist Louis Schwizgebel says Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto is 'full of disobedience', while British composer Sir Harrison Birtwistle is known for his daring style. There are colourful sounds from Lutosławski, and even a musical puppet show by Stravinsky.
Professional musicians will be on hand at the workshop to bring the music to life, and if you have instruments of your own, bring them along and join in!Â
Suitable for ages 7-plus.
How to book Proms Plus Family workshops are free to attend and take place at the Royal College of Music. Workshops are unticketed so booking is not necessary but capacity is limited. Doors open 30 minutes before the events begin and entry is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Proms Plus Family workshops take place before Proms which have been selected with families in mind, so when they're finished, you can pop over to the Royal Albert Hall, sit back and relax, and enjoy the concert. Tickets for the Prom can be purchased through the Royal Albert Hall box office or you can Prom for £5 on the day.
