Programme

C. P. E. Bach UK Premiere

Carl Philipp Emanuel - one of J S Bach's twenty children - was one of the foremost composers of the 18th century, though now he is almost completely overshadowed by the reputation of his father.

A composer in all sorts of genres, both sacred and secular, his setting of the St John Passion, long thought lost, was re-discovered a few years ago in a Ukrainian library, and the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Singers are proud to perform the UK premier.

In the year marking the 300th anniversary of C P E Bach's birth, conductor Kirill Karabits performs his own new edition of this missing work, giving audiences an unmissable opportunity to hear music not heard since it was first performed in 1784.
