About This Event
Gareth Malone will be conducting a unique performance of Handel’s Messiah at the world-famous Llandaff Cathedral in Cardiff. Performing this will be the Â鶹ԼÅÄ National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales alongside some of Britain’s best professional soloists. Alongside the National Chorus will be eight complete newcomers to the world of classical choral singing: cast from the area in and around Cardiff, Gareth will be training these talented new recruits to sing Messiah in the two months prior to the performance.
Two documentary programmes are being produced to trace the novice singers’ progress interweaved with Gareth Malone’s own journey of discovery about the meaning of the Messiah and the story of Handel and the music. The programmes will be broadcast over the Easter weekend of 2025 on the Â鶹ԼÅÄ, with the full performance airing on Easter Sunday.
Audience members will be invited to join in both the Hallelujah Chorus and the final anthem.
