Concert Information
Join the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Symphony Orchestra at the iconic Maida Vale Studios for an evening of Finnish orchestral music, chosen by Chief Conductor Sakari Oramo.
Full of sprite-like textures, Klami’s overture ‘The Cobblers on the Heath’ provides an exciting opening for the concert. Dedicated contemporary music pianist Joonas Ahonen gives the UK premiere of Lauri Kilpiö’s ‘Shades of Light’ Piano Concerto, which uses both standard and prepared instruments. Completed in 1926, Madetoja’s optimistic and pastoral Symphony No. 3 is considered to be his masterpiece and in equal stature to Sibelius’s contributions to the genre.
This concert will be recorded for future broadcast on Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 3.
Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that as not everyone who asks for tickets uses them, to make sure we have a full house we send out more tickets than there are places. We do our best to get the numbers right, but unfortunately we occasionally have to disappoint people so please arrive early.
