About this event

For the first time ever Radio 3 has run a Proms Poetry competition this year.

Listeners were asked to write a poem inspired by a piece of music from this year’s Prom concerts.

The music inspiring the entries has ranged from Rossini, Liszt and Handel to Steve Reich and the Horrible Histories.

Ian McMillan, the poet and presenter of Radio 3’s the Verb and the poet and former Children's Laureate Michael Rosen have judged the entries in three age categories for both adults and children and, in tonight’s event, announce the winners.

The three winners will be joining Ian and Michael on stage to talk about their poems and to hear actress Imogen Stubbs read some of the best entries.
