    About this event

Who better to open tonight’s Prom than Klaus Sonnleitner, present-day organist at St Florian’s Abbey, Linz, where Bruckner himself became organist almost 160 years ago.

Lorin Maazel conducts the Vienna Philharmonic in Bruckner’s Eighth Symphony, a vivid realisation of the self-doubting composer’s lifelong ambition to build upon the legacies of Beethoven, Schubert and Wagner.
