Concert Information

Semyon Bychkov, who holds our Günther Wand Conducting Chair, combines Brahms's titanic first symphony with a contemporary homage and Haydn's ebullient Cello Concerto.

Celebrated cellist Paul Watkins is the soloist in Haydn's sparkling masterpiece in C major, a composer much admired by Brahms. Detlev Glanert's lifelong fascination with his Romantic forebears has inspired several works of chameleon-like subtlety and resonance, including this Brahms Fantasie.

Please note that Paul Watkins replaces the originally advertised cellist Gautier Capuçon.
