Concert Information

Sound of Cinema presenter and film expert Matthew Sweet shares his passion for the great heritage that is Dickens on the screen with a characterful programme of film music performed by the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Concert Orchestra from classics such as David Lean’s Oliver Twist and Cavalcanti’s Life and Times of Nicholas Nickleby, as well as Malcolm Arnold and Rachel Portman’s scores for David Copperfield, Lionel Bart’s Oliver!, Carl Davis’s Our Mutual Friend, Patrick Doyle’s Great Expectations and Debbie Wiseman’s recent Dickensian. There will also be music by Christopher Willis from Armando Iannucci’s new film The Personal History of David Copperfield, and the chance to hear the composer talk to Matthew Sweet about his music.

Conducted by Ben Palmer in Alexandra Palace Theatre, and with special guest stars singers Fflur Wyn and Adrian Der Gregorian.

Tickets for this event are FREE but should be booked in advance through the BFI box office or online.
