Tectonics Glasgow 2016 closes with the UK premiere of David Fennessey鈥檚 Hirta Rounds, commissioned by the M眉nchener Kammerorchester, written for 16 strings - and no conductor. 脕nde Somby鈥檚 many animal yoiks are inspired by the idea of transformation in the pre-Christian Sami religion - how a person could transform into an animal and back into a human. His signature yoik is that of the wolf and here he gives a solo performance of this ancient form of vocal expression. Finally, Wolf Eyes - founder Nate Young joins forces with composer/guitarist Mario Diaz de Leon for a work which debuted at 2015鈥檚 Tectonics New York and which explores Young鈥檚 masterful sense of atmosphere and lucid dread, arranged and expanded for an ensemble of eight musicians.
