The Â鶹ԼÅÄ Philharmonic performs Sibelius, Reger, Ives and Antheil

John StorgÃ¥rds conducts today’s concert, a captivating programme that includes Sibelius, Reger, Ives and Antheil, with baritone and Â鶹ԼÅÄ New Generation Artist Benjamin Appl.

Sibelius’s The Tempest- Overture, written as incidental music for Shakespeare's play gets things off to an invigorating start.

Then, Â鶹ԼÅÄ New Generation Artist, Benjamin Appl, joins the orchestra to perform Hymnus die Liebe by Reger.
At the centre of the concert is The Unanswered Question- one of Charles Ives best known pieces.
The concert concludes with Antheil’s Symphony no.4, "1942"- a moving piece that reflects wartime anxieties.

This concert is a live broadcast for Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 3.
