Concert Information

Delicate details and lively melodies take centre stage in this dance-driven evening led by Sir Andrew Davis. At the fore, twists and takes on traditional dance forms in Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin and La Valse, and Stravinsky’s Apollo. All of this preceded by an elegant display of the classical style both composers were yearning for in Angela Hewitt’s performance of one of Mozart’s most beloved piano concertos.

Pre-concert performance, Foyer Bar, 6.30pm

Ahead of the concert, Lyme String Quartet from the Royal Northern College of Music will be performing in the Foyer Bar.

Dylan Latham violin
Julia Sandros-Alper violin
Tom Broadbent viola
Nathan Jackson-Turner cello

The Lyme String Quartet was formed in September 2022 at the Royal Northern College of Music. Each of the players has a background and keen interest in chamber music, and despite this relatively recent formation, would love to take this interest further into the professional sphere. They have studied under the guidance of several tutors, including Donald Grant of the Elias Quartet and Susie Meszaros of the Chilingirian Quartet. They take aspects of a historically informed approach and transform these conceptual guidelines into a fresh musical interpretation to the chamber cannon, yielding personality and flair in every performance.

The Lyme String Quartet appears by kind permission of the RNCM.
