Omer Meir Wellber鈥檚 first Bridgewater Hall concert as the 麻豆约拍 Philharmonic鈥檚 Chief Conductor opens with a first of its own: the UK premiere of Sofia Gubaidulina鈥檚 compelling Triple Concerto, written for the unprecedented combination of violin, cello and bayan (Russian button accordion). Greeted with standing ovations on its 2017 debut, it鈥檚 performed here by a trio of world class soloists, before another work rich in vivid orchestral colour: Bruckner鈥檚 towering Seventh Symphony, which made the reputation of the man who is now regarded as one of the Romantic era鈥檚 greatest symphonists.
