Will Todd’s urbane, jazz-infused Concerto for Emma takes us on a cosmopolitan rollercoaster ride through funk, showtime, swing and waltz. Paul Reade’s Suite from the Victorian Kitchen Garden, written for the Â鶹ԼÅÄ series, expresses nostalgia for a purer, simpler, rural way of life. The opening and closing works highlight the Orchestra’s dexterity and versatility. Ravel’s colourful Le tombeau de Couperin is a tribute to 18th century music and a memorial to the First World War. Dvořák’s dramatic Seventh Symphony builds to a highly charged finale that is as exciting as any the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Concert Orchestra plays.
