About This Event
Join conductor Peter Dijkstra, the Academy of Ancient Music and the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Singers for an evening celebrating some of the rich choral works by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Full of energy and kaleidoscopic character, Bach’s Six Motets rank among the highpoint of polyphonic choral repertoire, their beautifully textured and crystalline sound belying the technical demand and skill required from its singers. The concert concludes with Bach's colourful and inventive large-scale cantata, Laß, Fürstin, laß noch einen Strahl, or Trauerode, written in 1727 to commemorate the death of Christine Ebehardine, the wife of the King of Poland.
With the period-specific instruments and historically informed techniques from the vibrant Academy of Ancient Music, led by award-winning choral conductor Peter Dijkstra, the evening promises to display exceptional virtuosity.
