Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone could make a recommendation on any good books on the subject?
My interest is not is less in finding the origin of the names of specific towns but rather to gain enough of an understanding of for instance what a stead\ton\ham actually means specifically so I can speculate on minor place names and develop an improved sense of landscape history in my local area (and indeed any area).
Thanks
